Celebrating its fifth year, the University Park Art Fair will open to the public from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Akron’s Grace Park at Prospect and Perkins streets.

More than 100 regional artists will show their work in a variety of media, including ceramics, glass, wearable art, furniture, drawings and graphics, fiber, jewelry, leather, metal, painting, photography, sculpture, and mixed media, with demonstrations by Jack Baker from Akron Glass Works Hot Glass Studio.

This year’s features include family workshops with Akron artists Mark Soppeland and Leandra Drumm; Make & Take and other children’s activities organized by the Akron Art Museum; music and other entertainment by area bands; and Bike Valet service provided by the University of Akron Chapter of Engineers without Borders.

Sponsored by the University Park Alliance, the city of Akron, Summa Health System, Akron Community Foundation, Brennan Family Foundation, Akron Beacon Journal and United Way of Summit County, among others, the fair is aimed at reviving the University Park area.

Admission is free. Free on-street parking is available in the surrounding neighborhoods and parking lots are open for use at adjacent businesses.
