First Congregational Church of Akron Concert Series
The Chancel Choir of First Congregational Church has a long and revered tradition of leading worship, performing diverse styles of music, and providing musical education and fulfillment.
First Church is known for the quality of its music program. The Concert Choir and Symphony Orchestra of the University of Akron, members of the Akron Symphony, and others in the music community, including the recently-formed Akron Baroque Orchestra in residence at the church, partner for worship services, special events, and free concerts during the year as part of our Music at First Church concert series. The choir maintains the highest professional standards and is open to anyone with a commitment to musical excellence.
The Chancel Choir rehearses at First Congregational Church of Akron on Sunday mornings from 9:15 until 10:30 and sings every Sunday during the 11:00 Traditional Worship Service, under the direction of Valerie Thorson.
