Economic Development

A neighborhood needs plenty of quality jobs to be sustainable, and we're working hard to create more employment opportunities in University Park

To create good jobs vital to a sustainable neighborhood, we work to attract and assist new business, especially
business providing basic but missing services in the neighborhood. We have various programs to identify market
potential, support locally-owned business, promote entrepreneurship, and
attract the creative class workers needed to help new businesses grow:

economic development

  • Create economic opportunity and job creation through an Anchor Institution-led strategy
  • Establish a neighborhood business development transition program
  • Create a microenterprise and business incubation program
  • Offer an annual business plan competition for emerging entrepreneurs and student ventures

To further draw new business and key talent, we also act as brand manager for University Park, strategically promoting the neighborhood.

To learn more about any of the programs above, please contact our executive director, Eric Johnson (330.777.2070) or our chief of staff, Carol A. Murphy (330.777.2073).
